As part of the PAC - Provence Contemporary Art Festival and the Aix Biennale, the Mac Arteum presents "Off-Screen Pictorialities", a dialogue between the work of Sergio Ceccotti and four recent graduates of the Aix-en-Provence School of Art (ESAAIx): Amaya Cascio, Sunyoon Park, Mia Radford and Donatien Tapa.
Curated by Julie Borgeaud, with curatorial support from Christiane Courbon, the exhibition is part of the Biennale's program "Looking Towards Italy". Since the late 1950s, the Roman artist Sergio Ceccotti has developed a painting characterized by the tension of what lies beyond the frame and the fragmentation of space, the manipulation of light and color, in a cinematic language that reveals the strangeness of everyday life and stimulates questions. Young graduates take on these issues, which often resonate with their own practice, and establish a critical dialogue with the painter's work.
"Off-Screen Pictorialities" is a co-production of the Aix Biennale, in partnership with the École Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence.
